The Drifting Cloud Sect is one of three sects in Dreamcloud Mountains. They are part of Heavenly Dao Alliance. The sect first became the strongest in Dreamcloud Mountains[870] before becoming a superpower in the entire Heavenly South Region[1256], these accomplishments mostly stemming from their Grand Elder Han Li.

Overview

Drifting Cloud Sect was famed for its pill concoction, but they also pursued other disciplines. They recruited the most disciples and possessed the least demanding requirements[599]

The sect owned the Six Marvelous Peaks.[602] [622] They were:

  • Main Peak - Elders and Sect Master live there[638] The two Supreme Elders usually do their closed door training here.
  • Sky Spring, or Dayspring Mountain - ruled by Mountain Lord Xin.[603]
  • Flame Cloud - ruled by Mountain Lord Duan. They mainly relies on fire attribute cultivation arts.[602] They also have meny talismans refining disciples.[625]
  • Hidden Sword Peak - ruled by Mountain Lord Meng. They use metal attribute cultivation techniques.[602]
  • Mist Veil
  • White Phoenix Peak - ruled by Mountain Lord Song Yu. This mountain is made up of mostly female cultivators.[626]
  • Fantasy Stone, also known as Illusion Stone Mountain

The sect also owned Spirit Turtle Island, after Han Li’s efforts in suppressing the devilish Qi.[876]

Together with the Ancient Sword Sect and the Hundred Possibilities Sect, they were guarding the Spirit Well Tree in the Dreamcloud Mountains.[597]

History

Sword Trial Assembly

At the Sword Trial Assembly, they had surprisingly 4 disciples in the top 10, which was the most. Sun Huo managed to land in 3rd place.[629]

When spies from Righteous Dao Alliance and Six Devil Dao Sects within the three sects made move to acquire the Spirit Well Tree, the three sects were ready, because they knew about infiltrations. They aware of Old man Wei.[634] Still, the two Nascent Soul elders Cheng Tiankun and Lu Luo and Core Formation cultivators of the Drifting Cloud Sect and the three sect fell into an ambush by Devil Dao’s Thousand Illusions Sect and the Heavenly Fiend Sect. Because of involvement of Truelord Heavenfiend, Du Dong managed to escape with Wine Nectar. Later, they found out that Wine Nectar didn’t help Righteous Dao Alliance and Six Devil Dao Sects.[646]

Moulan invasion of the Heavenly South

Over 200 Drifting Cloud Sect disciples were sent to the front, 7 Core Formation cultivators and and the rest being at Foundation Establishment stage. That included Mountain Lords, like Song Yu.[749] Elder Lu Luo commanded them.[762]

Number One Sect

After Jin Wuhuan learnt about Han Li’s rise in fame, he wanted to meet him. Once, he find out Han Li was at mid Nascent Soul stage, Jin Wuhuan was interested in Han Li’s abilities.[867] He wanted to fight Han Li for a ranking contests between their sects.[869] As Grand Elder intended to finish the battle quickly with his Spring Thread Execution, his 3 flying swords were sealed by Celestial Ice Flames. Jin Wuhuan conceded defeat and the Drifting Cloud Sect became the number one sect in the Dreamcloud Mountains.[870]

Emergence of the Fourth Great Cultivator

After about 100 years, Han Li returned to the sect. A grand ceremony was held to celebrate the emergence of another late Nascent Soul stage cultivator within the Heavenly South. Over 100 Nascent Soul cultivators and many more Core Formation cultivators attended that event. Han Li only appeared for a short while on the first day of the ceremony. Han Li had challenged both Wei Wuya and Old Devil Concord at once and easily defeated them.[1178] After news about Han Li defeating Wei Wuya, Old Devil Concord and Master Sunreach spread, Han Li gained a reputation as the number one cultivator in the Heavenly South. Subsequently, the Drifting Cloud Sect’s influence began to expand drastically and they had taken over most of the State of Xi. All of the other cultivation sects in the State of Xi either had to concede to them, or re-establish their sects in another nation. The Ancient Sword Sect and the Hundred Possibilities Sect also expanded a bit, but they had virtually become subsidiaries to the Drifting Cloud Sect.[1179]

Two years later, the sect organized a grand marriage ceremony for Han Li and Nangong Wan with over 5,000 cultivators participating. The two of them only delivered a grateful address to all of the cultivators gathered at the ceremony and engaged in a formal exchange of cups of wine between bride and groom before departing from the scene. Then Elder Lu Luo took care of the ceremony making it extremely lively and bustling occasion. It was the most spectacular ceremony held in the Heavenly South Region for the past 1,000 years.[1197]

Departure of Grand Elder Han

When Han Li went into a long seclusion to make a breakthrough to Deity Transformation stage, he left the sect with Nangong Wan, Mu Peiling, Tian Qin’er and Shi Jian. The Drifting Cloud Sect began to consolidate their existing power. During next 1,000 years, Nascent Soul cultivators sprouted up in large numbers, elevating the sect to becoming a superpower in the Heavenly South.[1256]
