Failed Assault on the Hidden Fiend Sect
On the day of the operation, Fan Jingmei personally escorted Han Li to the rendezvous point, where they joined forces with another Core Formation-level strike group led by Lady Violet Spirit. The plan was designed with extreme caution, utilizing diversion, layered formations, and coordinated simultaneous entry.
However, the operation collapsed when a powerful cultivator from Zenith Yin Island—Wu Chou—unexpectedly interfered, completely exceeding their intelligence projections.
Moments later, a far greater shock struck Fan Jingmei: She discovered that Elder Zhao of the Exquisite Sound Sect had betrayed her, defecting to Zenith Yin Island and feeding them internal intelligence on the operation.
The situation escalated even further when Grandmaster Zenith Yin forcibly possessed Wu Chou’s body**, sacrificing his disciple to directly intervene and seize control of the Hidden Fiend Sect Master.
The enormous gap between Nascent Soul and Core Formation power rendered any resistance meaningless. The battlefield instantly transformed into a slaughter zone.
At the moment of annihilation, Lady Violet Spirit activated the sect’s supreme life-saving artifact — the Wood Dragon Tablet — forcibly opening an escape route for herself and Fan Jingmei. The two barely escaped with their lives. This defeat completely shattered the Exquisite Sound Sect’s last attempt at revenge.
A Takeover of the Exquisite Sound Sect
Following the disaster of the Heavenvoid Hall and the collapse of the Hidden Fiend campaign, dramatic changes swept through the Scattered Star Seas.

- Zhuo Ruting, the Envoy of the Right, also mysteriously disappeared
- The sect lost its top leadership structure almost overnight
At the same time, the Starfall Coalition learned that Han Li had been publicly recorded as an elder of the Exquisite Sound Sect and was now rumored to possess the legendary Heavenvoid Cauldron.
Recognizing the sect as a perfect trap, the Starfall Coalition forcibly seized control of the Exquisite Sound Sect. For political legitimacy, Fan Jingmei was elevated as Sect Master in name, but in truth she became a puppet ruler, compelled to obey the commands of the Starfall cultivator Yun Tianxiao.
When intelligence surfaced that Han Li had appeared near Wondrous Depths Island, the Starfall Coalition immediately ordered Fan Jingmei to relocate the entire sect out of the protected Inner Star Seas and into the Demon Beast-infested Outer Star Seas, using her disciples as bait. This migration was effectively a death sentence.
Twenty Years of Isolation & Beast Tide
For the next twenty years, the Exquisite Sound Sect teetered on the brink of extinction as they were cut off from the Inner Seas. Eventually, enormous Demon Beast hordes seized Wondrous Depths Island entirely in the catastrophic event later known as the “Beast Tide”.
With all retreat routes severed and the Starfall Coalition tightening control, Fan Jingmei turned to secret preparations. She risked execution by:
- Diverting resources in secret
- Concealing formation masters
- Disguising spatial array construction as ordinary defensive arrays
Her true goal was the creation of an emergency large-scale transportation formation, capable of evacuating the sect back into the Inner Star Seas without Coalition detection.
Final Alliance with Han Li
One day, Fan Jingmei encountered a wandering cultivator whose aura and scent she instantly recognized as Han Li, despite him using the forbidden Appearance Exchange Art to disguise himself. nFully aware that her lifespan was nearing its end and that the sect’s destruction was inevitable without intervention, she made one final gamble.
She requested that Han Li assassinate Yun Tianxiao, thereby freeing the Exquisite Sound Sect from Starfall control. In exchange, she would activate the hidden transportation formation and personally ensure his return to the Inner Star Seas. Han Li agreed. In the following days, Yun Tianxiao returned accompanied by the Nascent Soul cultivator Old Daoist Swift Crane. Despite the overwhelming danger, the assassination plan was activated.
When Yun Tianxiao was successfully isolated, Han Li struck with lightning speed and killed him instantly. However, Yun Tianxiao transmitted a distress call before dying.
Swift Crane immediately attacked the disguised Han Li, but Fan Jingmei intervened and publicly declared that Yun Tianxiao had died as a traitor punished by sect authority, attempting to halt the Nascent Soul cultivator’s pursuit.
At that exact moment, the wind spirit energy inside Han Li destabilized, revealing the proximity of Feng Xi. His disguise collapsed, exposing his true identity.
Enraged, Swift Crane immediately pursued Han Li—seeking vengeance for the eight Jade Cloud Sect disciples he had slain and the coveted Heavenvoid Cauldron. Han Li narrowly escaped using the Thunderstorm Wings.
Final Fate
With Yun Tianxiao dead and Starfall control severely weakened, Fan Jingmei activated the sect’s escape preparations and completed her last duty as Sect Master. Not long afterward, she passed away from old age, one of the extremely rare sect leaders in the cultivation world to die naturally rather than through slaughter or tribulation. Her death marked the true end of the original Exquisite Sound Sect era.
