Swift Crane was an Early Nascent Soul cultivator residing in the Outer Star Seas within the Scattered Star Seas. He was the chief elder of the Jade Cloud Sect[525]. As a chief elder, he is protective of his sect’s status and power. He was enraged when a cultivator named the insect demon killed members of his sect. He scoured the seas in search of the demon. He did not know that the insect demon was a plot by other members of the Starfall Coalition to search for the cultivator who possessed the Heavenvoid Cauldron[527].
First Meeting
Years later, Swift Crane was forced to evacuate his sect and flee from its home of the Wondrous Depths Island when hordes of Demon Beasts assaulted the island. Following the collapse, Swift Crane became a pillar of strength for human cultivators in the Outer Star Seas. As a result, he was courted by many sects attempting to curry favors from him. One such sect was the Exquisite Sound Sect who offered him Wen Siyue as a concubine in exchange for support as a guest elder[539-540]. His future concubine disappeared after she was rescued by a former elder of her sect. This elder was Han Li who was framed as the insect demon.
The situation in the Outer Star Seas became more perilous because the Demon Beasts began a campaign to exterminate humans. The campaign was triggered by Han Li who killed the son of the Golden Wyrm King enraging the Wyrm Clan[551]. As a result, Swift Crane supported the Exquisite Sound Sect’s attempt to build a teleportation formation that would allow him to flee to the safety of the Inner Star Seas[558]. He paid a visit to a hidden human city that was housing the sect. He was escorted by Yun Tianxiao, the master of the sect. Swift Crane was alerted to a disturbance when Yun Tianxiao was assassinated by Han Li[559].
Greed overcame Swift Crane upon meeting Han Li who possessed the Heavenvoid Cauldron. Swift Crane’s attempt to seize the cauldron was interrupted by the appearance of a fearsome Grade 9 Metamorphosed Demon Beast Feng Xi that was also hunting Han Li[560]. Unwilling to pass on the opportunity to acquire the cauldron, Swift Crane also attempted to chase Han Li, angering the beast. Unfortunately, Han Li managed to escape through a hidden teleportation formation. The formation was destroyed before either Swift Crane or the Demon Beast could use it. This further enraged the Demon Beast which proceeded to take its anger out on Swift Crane[561]. Swift Crane’s body was destroyed by the beast[1142]. Luckily, the Jade Cloud Sect managed to save him by helping him possess a new body.
Treasure in the Outer Star Seas
A few centuries later, Swift Crane managed to recover his Nascent Soul cultivation[1143]. He remained in the Outer Star Seas where he took advantage of a rich Spirit stone mine discovered on the Green Spirit Island. He traveled with Huang Kun to join other members of the Starfall Coalition on the island in preparation for a large three-way conflict between the coalition, the Star Palace, and the Demon Beasts[1147]. The two were ambushed by a powerful cultivator[1145]. This cultivator turned out to be Han Li who was now a Late Stage Nascent Soul Realm cultivator.
Swift Crane was surprised at Han Li’s growth. Unable to see through Han Li’s cultivation, Swift Crane attempted to escape [1146]. His attempt was thwarted by Han Li’s humanoid puppet. Swift Crane’s body and Nascent Soul were captured. He was interrogated by Han Li.
