Mo Caihuan

Mo Caihuan Mo Caihuan is one of the daughters of Mo Juren and Lady Yan.

Appearance

A dainty girl around fifteen to sixteen years old.

Personality

In Manhua, Mo Caihuan liked to scheme and manipulate people. She often acted cute and coquettishly trying to coax expensive gifts out of Han Li.^[14]

In Donghua, she was depicted as quite the opposite: genuinely shy, but kind, honest and brave person who wasn’t interested in material gifts, having never used or sold the precious potions Han Li once gave to her and leaving them to her adopted daughter instead.

History

Book 2

Han Li arrived at the Mo Estate to offer his help as disciple of Mo Juren and for the Precious Warm Yang Jade.^[109] Mo Caihuan tried to scheme against him. He gifted her the Winding Fragrance Pill.^[113] Afterwards, Han Li explained details of Mo Juren’s demise.^[117] After learning he was a cultivator, Mo Family made a deal with him to use his strength. Han Li was to kill Ouyang Feitian of Hegemon’s Villa in exchange for the Precious Warm Yang Jade to cure his poison.^[123]

Book 3

After Han Li killed Ouyang Feitian of Hegemon’s Villa, Fearsome Flood Dragon Association made a move to seize their belongings and grow in power. But Rainbow Sect did the same. Later, both organizations came into conflict. As it turned out Rainbow Sect was stronger than they appeared, Fearsome Flood Dragon Association was defeated. It’s leaders, Mo Family was forced to run away.

Lady Yan and Mo Caihuan managed to get help from Yan Zhu, a Qi Condensation member of Yan Clan. After a year, Lady Yan decided to marry this cultivator to repay him for saving them. Mo Caihuan pretended to be a widow with cursed husband to discourage other people. They lived peacefully 2 years in Yan Ling Castle. One day, Yan Zhu died while carrying out a mission for the clan. Afterwards, mother and daughter started a small shop. The income allowed Lady Yan to keep the illness repressed. When one of the cultivators, who wanted to marry Mo Caihuan was rejected by her, he caused their small store to be on the verge of collapse with his schemes.

One day, Mo Caihuan met Han Li, who was visiting Yan Ling Castle, and asked him for help. He cured Lady Yan and discouraged cultivator from further schemes.^[251]

Decline of the Mo Estate

Last phase of life

After returning home to the Mo Estate, she adopts a little girl called Li Yingning during a plague that ravaged her village. She spends her time passing on all her medicinal knowledge to her new “niece”, and instructs her to consume the Eternal Youth Pill (that Han Li left her) once she turns fifty, since it can prolong her life. Regretting that her health will not allow her to see her “niece” Yingning grow up, she makes the little girl promise to bring the Mo family’s medicinal prowess to greater heights. On the winter of that year, eight years after Han Li left for the Scattered Star Seas, Mo Caihuan passes away.

Trivia

• In donghua, Mo Caihuan is the only daughter of Doctor Mo and an eclectic character possessing certain traits from Mo Fengwu, Mo Yuzhu and Mo Caihuan. She has little in common with the last one, except for the name. Like Mo Youzhu, she initially is being forced into marriage with Wu Jianming. Like Mo Fengwu who she resembles the most, she has interest in medical arts and has humble kind-hearted personality.
