History

Forcible Awakening

In the Ghost Valley of Nine Origins Temple, Gui Lingzi used Corpse Severance Talisman on Han Li during their fight. That caused Han Li’s wicked corpse soul to be forcibly awakened when he was still far from ready to face it. As a result, the wicked corpse soul was able to partially take over his body and attacked Ti Hun and Lan Yan. Lan Yan and Han Li tried their best to restrict its attacks while Ti Hun was preparing her secret technique to completely immobilize Han Li. Then, Ti Hun sent her spiritual sense into Han Li’s conciousness and searched for his soul in the vast expanse of heaven and earth. When she found his soul, it was already beginning to split apart. She proposed to temporarily seal his soul and put him into slumber, but Han Li rejected it. He believed that it’s better to just split the soul apart and fight it out.

Temporary Suppression

Using the lightning in his conciousness on his own soul, Han Li forcibly split it apart. As a result, his soul was split into 2 Han Li figures. One had serious look on its face, while the other one had twisted looks of elation and intense resentment. However, the wicked corpse soul had a clearly far more powerful aura than Han Li. Then, both of them fought fiercely to gain control of Han Li’s conciousness and, by extension, his body. Their clash split the entire world in his conciousness into two halves. It didn’t take long before Han Li was overpowered by the wicked corpse soul. Seeing this, Han Li secretly instructed Ti Hun to help him. Unfortunately for them, the wicked corpse soul was waiting for that exact moment so that it could absorb her spiritual sense to increase its power. However, Han Li managed to prevent this with his Spiritstun Thorn technique, and Ti Hun also finally managed to restrict the wicked corpse soul for half a minute. Although it eventually managed to break free from her restriction earlier and prepared a defensive measure, Han Li was still able to use his Origin Separation Law Chains to suppress the wicked corpse soul temporarily.

Some time later, Han Li fought against Yue Qing. During their fight, the wicked corpse soul kept trying to tempt the injured Han Li into releasing it by offering to kill the enemy for him. Han Li ignored its offer at first. However, as his condition worsened, he decided to release only half of the Origin Separation Law Chains to borrow its power. Unfortunately, this caused the suppression duration to be reduced. After the fight ended, Han Li, Yue Mian, Jin Tong, and Xiao Bai traveled through Extraheavensphere to reach Primordial Land. In the Extraheavensphere, the wicked corpse soul was suddenly stirred by the Extrarealm Heavenly Devils, arousing the bloodlust and killing intent in his heart. Because of that, he was compelled to find a way to sever it as soon as possible.

Inevitable Severance

Before severing the wicked corpse soul, Han Li had made some preparations to facilitate the process. First, he took a black crystal coffin containing Absolute Heinous Remains from Gui Lingzi’s cave abode. Second, in the course of ~30,000 years in accelerated time, he successfully opened the 379 immortal acupoints that had been half-open as a result of the forcible awakening of his wicked corpse soul. Third, he obtained Avatar Corpse Soul Severance Technique from Liu Le’er. Fourth, he instructed Luo Feng to find him a secluded and unpopulated island in the Black Wind Sea and set up a special array on the island within 7 days. Fifth, he convinced his 1st Earthly Deity Avatar to allow him to seal the wicked corpse soul in its body. Sixth, he instructed the avatar to cultivate in the special array to refine its body for 49 days. Seventh, he instructed Ti Hun to seal the avatar’s soul and spiritual sense with her secret technique. Eight, he set up a special array for the corpse soul severance & the Treasured Pagoda Demon Subduing Array on the island. Ninth, he instructed Ti Hun and Jin Tong to guard the island.

In the array on an altar at the center of Frostless Island, Han Li sat across the Earthly Deity Avatar on the yang side, while the avatar was on the yin side. Then, he activated the array, and entered his own conciousness. There, he met the restrained wicked corpse soul and proposed an alternative solution, which was to just leave his body and enter the avatar body. The wicked corpse soul pretended to agree so that Han Li would release the rest of Origin Separation Law Chains. However, Han Li had anticipated such situation. As a result, they once again fought fiercely. Han Li used a golden lightning longsword, whereas the wicked corpse soul used a crimson lightning longsword. They also fought with simple fists and spiritual sense attacks. “High up in the sky, crimson and golden lightning intertwined, while down below, two turbulent seas clashed with unstoppable might, with both sides itching to devour the other.” Amidst their fight, Han Li timed their positions and conjured up a gargantuan yin yang symbol to subdue the wicked corpse soul. After that, he forcibly reclaimed the other half of his conciousness and forced the wicked corpse soul out of his body. It tried to get back into Han Li’s body, but the array sent it into the avatar body instead.

Masterful Escape

The Earthly Deity Avatar, that had been possessed by the wicked corpse soul, opened its eyes and roared furiously. It tried to get up but couldn’t because it hadn’t actually gained control over its new body and there were countless chains pierced into the body. Then, it and Han Li raced to become the first to recover. The wicked corpse soul was trying to modify the avatar body, while Han Li was trying to recuperate and consolidate his newly-progressed cultivation. Surprisingly, it managed to control its body quicker than Han Li. Soon after that, it restrained its own baleful qi and used the water law power instead, rendering the barrier unable to subjugate it. It also used the water law power to break off all the chains. It then immediately conjured up a blue water dragon and flew up to break the barrier, but to no avail. Seeing this, Han Li tried to grab its ankle, but it simply disintegrated into water. Consequently, it finally managed to break the barrier. After the barrier was broken, the wicked corpse soul was faced with a quickly descending golden 7-story pagoda. In response, it blew up its Heavy Water True Axis to break out of the Treasured Pagoda Demon Subduing Array. It then quickly ran away by blending itself with the surrounding sea water after exclaiming that it would exact its revenge someday.

Immediately thereafter, Han Li, Ti Hun, and Jin Tong set off in pursuit of the fleeing wicked corpse soul. Since Han Li hadn’t completely recovered yet, he couldn’t fully use his Spirit Refinement Technique to detect its location. Therefore, Ti Hun used her ability to detect it. She detected that the wicked corpse soul went in a certain direction. Unfortunately, whenever Han Li got close to the wicked corpse soul, it was somehow able to accelerate itself and put some distance between them. As a result, it managed to enter the Soul Stirring Winds while taunting him. Before entering the yin winds, Han Li had to stop for 1 day (~20 years in accelerated time) to recover and consolidate his cultivation base. Afterwards, they continued their pursuit, but, even after venturing deep into the winds, they were still unable to detect the wicked corpse soul at all.
