History
Sensing the Corpse Soul
In Extraheavensphere, Han Li fought against Xuanyuan Jie. When he had overexerted himself tremendously, his self corpse soul suddenly offered to lend him its power. He had been trying to sense its presence, but only then did he manage to find it. Then, he questioned if the self corpse soul wanted to take over his body at the time. It had no such intention because its thoughts and intentions mirrored his own and simply gave him its power without further ado. In the next instant, Han Li recovered around half of his power. After the fight ended, he and Jin Tong went somewhere safe in the Extraheavensphere to sever his self corpse soul and consolidate her new cultivation base respectively. Upon arriving at their destination, he made a cave abode in a giant asteroid. The two then entered the cave abode before entering the Celestial Time Array in his Flower Branch domain with Nangong Wan and went to different areas.
Severing the Corpse Soul
Inside the bamboo pavilion, Han Li set up the array for corpse soul severance, set down his 3rd Earthly Deity Avatar body, and set up multiple layers of restrictions around the place. Afterwards, he meditated for 3 days and entered his own conciousness. There, he met another Han Li whose appearance, clothes, demeanor, and aura were completely identical to his. The self corpse soul calmly smiled and spoke to him while conjuring up a stone table between the two of them. It then asked if he knew what a self corpse soul was and how to sever it. But Han Li didn’t know the answers. Surprisingly, the self corpse soul was willing to tell him the answers. It was confident that even if he had known the answers, he would have still been unable to sever it. It’s because in order to sever it, he had to be willing to kill the people he cherished. Han Li was angered and tried to punch it, only to be stopped by its one hand. Next, they fought fiercely and equally for half a month. They only stopped because both of them were too exhausted to continue. As a result, Han Li decided to leave his own conciousness.
Around half a month later, Han Li re-entered his own conciousness. He asked the self corpse soul about the reason for the aforementioned requirement, but this time it wasn’t willing to give him the answer. Then, they fought fiercely and equally, again. Amidst their fight, it was able to notice that he fought it to improve his control of his law powers in preparation for fighting Gu Huojin. While that’s true, it was also done to gather information about the self corpse soul. Several days later, they stopped fighting due to complete exhaustion. They continued the cycle for 10,000 years. After that, Han Li determined that there’s no much point in continuing anymore and left his own consciousness. He then read a Dao Ancestor’s journal he obtained from the Reincarnation Palace. According to the journal, the Dao Ancestor needed to find the true meaning of self before successfully severing his self corpse soul.
Inspired by the Dao Ancestor, Han Li brought Nangong Wan on a journey to revisit the significant places on his path of cultivation in True Immortal Realm, while Jin Tong chose to remain in his Flower Branch domain. Around half a month later, they arrived at the Black Wind Sea in Northern Glacial Immortal Region to inspect the Dark Veil Island. Then, they went to the Black Wind City on Black Wind Island, crossed the Soul Stirring Winds to reach Primordial Wave Continent, and visited the Blaze Dragon Dao Sect on Ancient Cloud Continent. There, he sat down on the Crimson Dawn Peak for half a month to reminisce about his past emotions in the sect repeatedly until he clearly understood his own heart and gradually gleaned the true meaning of self. After that, they went to observe the Primordial Origin City, the Leisure Valley of Floating Cloud Mountain Range in Black Mountain Immortal Region, and the Illusory Smoke Swamp in Black Soil Immortal Region. There, they met Daoist Hu Yan and were invited to share a drink in his abode.
Upon arriving at his abode, Han Li and Nangong Wan met Yun Ni and Bai Suyuan. Then, while drinking Daoist Hu Yan’s immortal wines and chatting with him, Han Li managed to attain enlightenment. After that, he gave Bai Suyuan a vial containing 10 Immortal Origin Enhancement Pills to cure Daoist Hu Yan’s condition, repaying the favor and severing karmic ties with the place. Immediately thereafter, Han Li and Nangong Wan went back to the Extraheavensphere and entered his Flower Branch domain in a new cave abode. After meditating for 1 day, he entered his own conciousness and met the self corpse soul again. It didn’t bother dodging when Han Li tried to restrain him. Suddenly, everything turned into darkness. Afterwards, he faced and severed his attachments in the form of various illusions consecutively. When he was exhausted, the self corpse soul urged him to give up, but he refused. He then returned outside and received a continuous increase of power. Feeling indescribably proud and happy, he sensed a danger and snapped back to reality, thus successfully dispelling the final illusion. Finally, he sent the self corpse soul into the avatar body and later cast it into an alternate space and time using the Heaven Controlling Vial.
