Duan Tianren is a Late Holy-Race (Body Integration) stage Stone Cocoon residing on the Thunder Continent within the Spirit Realm. He is an elder of the Heavenly Cloud Races. He also possesses an Essencefused Body allowing him to harness and manipulated the power of the Divine Essencefused Light. He obtained the body by fusing Essencefused Stones with his physical body

Background

Duan Tianren was given the opportunity to enter the Vast Glacial Realm when he was a Upper-Tier (Spatial Tempering) stage being. Along with an ally, he learned of the existence of Spiritvoid Pills which are useful for Holy-Race stage cultivators. He learned the pills would assist him ascend Heavenly Tribulations. Unfortunately, he did not possess the power or strength to break through the restrictions to obtain the pill before his time within the realm ran out.

Sometime later, Duan Tianren managed to ascend to the Holy-Race stage. As a result, he was unable to reenter the Vast Glacial Realm to obtain the pills. He was forced to partner with Cai Liuying to concoct a plan to obtain disciples with Essencefused Bodies who could enter the realm and break through the restrictions to obtain the pills. Together they enacted a plan. He took on a disciple within the Stone Cocoon race named Shi Kun.

First Meeting

Duan Tianren was attempting to sell a treasure within the Cloud City when he by chance sensed someone nearby possessing an Essencefused Body. He immediately found and invited the 7th-tier Upper Race being to a private meeting with himself and his ally Cai Liuying. This being was Han Li who by chance checked out a market within the city. During the private meeting, Cai Liuying was able to confirm that Han Li did indeed possess the ability to manipulate the Divine Essencefused Light. He was ecstatic at being able to set forward a plan to obtain the Spiritvoid Pills from the Vast Glacial Realm.

Initially, Duan Tianren thought that they could repay Han Li’s participation in their plan by securing a spot for Han Li to enter the Vast Glacial Realm. Duan Tianren was surprised to learn that Han Li already had a spot secured as the activator of one of the badges. As a result, Duan Tianren was forced to offer another form of compensation. Together with Cai Liuying, Duan Tianren convinced Han Li to undertake the dangerous mission to obtain the pills by offering to pay half of the Spirit Stones required to power the super-teleportation formation that Han Li wanted to use to return to the Tian Yuan Continent.

Opening the Vast Glacial Realm

Years later, prior to the opening of the Vast Glacial Realm, Duan Tianren discreetly took his disciple to meet Han Li. In order to improve the chances of obtaining a pill, Duan Tianren shared past experiences and information about the realm with Han Li. In secret, Duan Tianren arranged his disciple to be assigned to the same team as Han Li. Months later, he attended the ceremony to open the realm where he saw his disciple and Han Li enter the realm.

Jiao Chi Invasion

Years later, the Jiao Chi launched an offensive on the Heavenly Cloud Races. The Jiao Chi lured the Heavenly Cloud Races to into a trap which left the Cloud City with limited defenses. As a result, a massive assault was launched on the city. In order to delay loss of the city, Duan Tianren was reassigned outside of the city. This tricked the Jiao Chi into holding back their Holy-Race stage beings from participating in the fight. This tactic allowed enough time for the prodigies sent to the Vast Glacial Realm to return.

Duan Tianren’s disciple returned from the realm and managed to successfully obtain a single Spiritvoid Pill. From his disciple, he learned many things about Han Li. Duan Tianren learned that Han Li possessed combat abilities that rivaled to Holy-Race stage beings. Duan Tianren also learned that Han Li obtained precious medicinal resources from the realm. Furthermore, an instruction from a Grand Ascension grand-elder of the Heavenly Cloud Races also hinted that Han Li had unknown ties with seniors of the races.

Together with Cai Liuying and Qian Jizi, Duan Tianren met with Han Li and traded valuable resources for the Spiritual Medicines that Han Li obtained from the realm. After the trade concluded, Qian Jizi suspected Han Li did not bring out all the medicines to trade. Overcome with greed, Qian Jizi tried to solicit the assistance from Duan Tianren to force Han Li to hand over the rest of the medicines. Duan Tianren thought it was unwise to confront Han Li given both Han Li’s strength, relationship with seniors and the fact that Han Li had been key to obtaining a Spiritvoid pill. Duan Tianren joined Cai Liuying in dissuading his comrade.
